Scripture :
Psalm 20:7-8
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.
Observation
the psalm starts with the psalmist's prayer for the reader, that the LORD will answer protect, send help, grant support to the readers' situation.
he also prayed for the LORD to give the reader the desires of his heart and make all his plans succeed. that we, a community is in place here, will shout for joy when you are victorious.
then it goes on to say that now he knows that the LORD saves and answers him, and saves him with the LORD's powerful hand.
indeed, some trust in strength of chariots and horses, but the psalmist trusts in the LORD.
Application
indeed, many times i have depended on my strength and power, or the strength, power or wisdom of man etc, anything but God. may i indeed trust in the name of the LORD God!
Prayer
LORD God, the maker of heaven and earth, i pray that i will again be turned back to trusting your name alone! that i will not be trusting in my own strength and wisdom. indeed, wisdom of man is but foolishness to you!
Help me to learn agian and anew to lean on you and not on my own understanding in the things that are happening around of me. for my ways are not your ways. and your ways are higher than my ways. let me always be humble and walk closely with you as i should. for apart from you i can do nothing.
seal your living word in my spirit that i can again be alive and revived by your word, for your word is life! guide me in my work today and my speech and thoughts, may they be pleasing to you my LORD God!
help me Holy Spirit to live my life again today!
In Jesus' name, Amen!
