I have come back from a mission trip to SCP somewhere above Malaysia. It has been a time of learning and spiritual high that stemmed from time of close prayer walk with God and also of the fellowship with the team.
The mission trip was to be a 11 days mission trip where the team was to hand out complete sets of Bible to the Chinese tourists found at various tourist attraction areas. the preparation for this mission started long, months before the trip. Thank God for crusade who always have good preparations for the team and for the team to meet up and to interact. i also thank God for my team leaders-- Calyn, jelaine. they were special sisters that helped me to learn about patience and also to care for the team members. the rest of the team includes, the girls-- Chailing and Melanie. the guys were-- Yongfu, Joshua, Rirong and myself. i learnt a lot from the time spent there.
the first day, we had the chance to meet the head of the ministry there and to hear how God uses the ministry and how the ministry came into being. it was a cool one, the SCP stem out from missionaries that felt led to leave a mission seminar, that the few were supposed to be attending. they explored the place and saw many Chinese from China there. they collected some tracts and gave them out to the China Chinese and the tracts were all given out in minutes. the missionaries felt that the China Chinese tourists have a hunger for the Word of God and hence, they found and started to hand out tracts and Bible in spontaneous settings. before you know it, this spontaneous giving became an important mean to reach the China Chinese of the Good News of Jesus Christ! last year alone, SCP had given out 151 000 Bible, VCD and tracts packages to the China Chinese. Praise God!
i learnt prayers to be the most important spiritual privilege and ammunition against the evil forces of evil that acts to kill and destroy the progression of the gospel. though SCP seems like a ministry that is seed sowing, mere fact of the China Chinese receiving the Bible is a step for them to read and know about the Gospel! they are avid readers by the way. =) we were told that prayers are so important from the point that the evil one will not just sit around and let us give out the Bible to the Chinese, he would find all means to battle against the gospel. hence it is imperative to see that spiritual warfare is imminent and that we do not wage war in the spiritual realms with physical weapons. we, as children of God, are given spiritual armour to don and to wield. we also learnt that we are like people standing in the gap between darkness and the light, as we hand out the Bible which is the Word of God. we are positioned like people who can let the light of God be touching the lives of many who have not heard the gospel, which is the power of God to save. it is a privilege and at the same time seems like a big thing.
yet, it is again the gift of prayer and intercessary prayer and praying in the Spirit and praying unceasingly and putting up the full armour of God that is going to make a difference in the spiritual realms and then to be effected in the physical realms. thank God for this time!
